We suggest placing an order approximately four months prior to the desired delivery date. Most importantly, due to the variety of factors that may play a role in an order, we suggest discussing your vehicle preferences with your preferred Volvo Retailer. There is no separate cost to the program, but an upfront, non-refundable deposit of $6,000 is required at the time your Volvo Retailer places the order. This deposit is applied to the final cost of the vehicle.
The journey begins with your preferred Volvo Retailer, who will place the order according to your specifications. Our travel partner, Adventure Travel, will contact you within 30 days of your order documents being electronically signed and submitted to get started with your travel. Final payment for your new Volvo is due upon delivery at the US retailer. You may finance the vehicle or purchase it outright.
We provide two weeks of complimentary insurance with your Volvo Overseas Delivery purchase. If you would like to drive your Volvo longer, you can certainly purchase additional comprehensive insurance on cars temporarily registered on Swedish export plates for periods up to two months when you place your order through your Volvo dealer or during your delivery.

Yes, as long as that driver has the vehicle’s owner’s permission, is at least 18 years of age, and physically carries an active US driver’s license.
Sweden requires winter tires on all cars from December 1st to March 31st when driving in wintry conditions, including snow, ice, or frost. Law enforcement determines these conditions. The World of Volvo offers you the following options and you will be contacted prior to delivery to arrange:
Yes, you can purchase additional accessories at the time of delivery and have them fitted prior to home shipment. This transaction will be made directly with the World of Volvo.
Unfortunately, we do not offer weekend delivery or drop off. The World of Volvo is only open for deliveries and home shipment return Monday through Friday 8 am - 3:30 pm, excluding European holidays. Please check with your retailer, travel advisor, or delivery@volvocars.com to confirm closure dates.
Yes, if they have a power of attorney that is signed by the owner that allows for the representative to take delivery and sign all necessary documentation on the owner’s behalf and a copy of the owner’s passport photo page. Customers are responsible for obtaining and providing this document to the World of Volvo. The customer will also need to inform their retailer that they're doing this prior to their trip so the World of Volvo can be notified.

Modifications to the confirmed delivery date will be accommodated when feasible. In the event the requested change is granted, if there are any fees associated with travel changes, this will be the responsibility of the customer. If such modifications are not feasible, the originally confirmed delivery date shall remain in effect You can reach out to request a delivery date change via your travel advisor or overseas@volvoforlife.com, please also inform your Volvo Cars retailer once the delivery date change is confirmed.
If you choose Gothenburg there are no additional charges for home shipment. For other approved locations, a transfer charge is applied. US destination charge still applies for all units. Your Volvo is insured throughout the transport process from the drop-off point overseas, to its final destination in the United States.
Yes! The red Swedish temporary plates are yours to bring home as a souvenir. In order to fully guarantee they are not removed during the shipment journey, we recommend you request at home shipment that they are removed so you can pack them in your luggage to bring back with you.
Leasing is not available, however, financing through Volvo Car Financial Services is available.
When you purchase through Overseas Delivery you are receiving preferred pricing off of MSRP. Eligible A-Plan by Volvo or Affinity Program offers are combinable with our Overseas Delivery program. Unfortunately, we are unable to combine Overseas Delivery orders with national or local incentives.
No. As a tourist, you have a maximum of two months before your Volvo must be returned for shipment back to the U. S. European VAT will be imposed on the owner if the vehicle stays in Europe longer than two months.
Yes, the program offers two roundtrip Premium Economy class airfare tickets. You may upgrade your ticket to business for the additional cost. Please discuss these options -and additional ticket needs- with your travel advisor.
You must take delivery of your vehicle in Gothenburg, but you can drop off your vehicle at additional approved Home Shipment return locations and fly out of another city.
